Mindful Living: A Guide for You and Your Family
A book for parents and caregivers to reduce stress and feel more present in their daily life
I used to spend a lot of my energy worrying about the future and what might happen. This would take my focus away from what was happening in the present.
This was the most important thing that I did to start managing stress and living life more intentionally…
I started practicing mindfulness and developed a self-compassion practice.
I found the benefits of mindfulness to make a positive impact on all aspects of my life. It’s an insightful practice that helped me increase my self-awareness of my thoughts, feelings, and actions.
That's the main reason I decided to start my first mindfulness teacher training in 2020, and enroll in more courses and trainings to become a mindfulness coach.
When I became a mum, I discovered even more about how mindfulness can make a difference when juggling the demands of parenting.
I have been able to reduce the amount of times that I tell myself I “should be doing…” and releasing being in comparison mode with other parents.
Watching my child grow and develop is such a wonderful journey. My mindfulness practice has helped keep me grounded through sleep deprivation, illness and being a full time stay-at-home mum and business owner.
By embodying mindfulness into different aspects of my everyday life I've discovered how to manage stress as a parent and feel calm during challenging times.
When I feel stressed, I'm able to notice how I react to it and take time to reflect upon my actions and make any necessary changes for the future.
Motherhood is an insightful journey that has taught me the importance of deepening my mindfulness practice, and using other self-care tools. As I’ve learnt how to become a mindful parent.
Mindful Parenting
Before discovering mindfulness, I dwelled on my thoughts and believe the inner critic thoughts that weren't kind about myself.
Now I can reflect upon what thoughts are helpful and unhelpful, and how my communication could spill over to when i'm interacting with my child. By regularly creating space to have a self-inquiry and reflective practice, I have become more thoughtful and adaptable to my own needs and my child's.
This inspired me to write my book ‘Mindful Living: A Guide for You and Your Family’.
When you bring mindfulness tools into your life you can shift from feeling like you're on auto-pilot to becoming more aware of each moment. This can help you to identify subtle shifts in your emotions and behaviours, which can help you become more compassionate and understanding.
There are stressful moments that arise when parenting. This book shares strategies to help you relieve stress and practice being kinder to yourself, so you can quieten your inner-critic.
When emotional triggers come up, instead of judging yourself and speaking to yourself harshly, you can practice reframing your thoughts and increase positive self-talk.
I bring together personal stories, reflective exercises and short practical mindfulness techniques that can easily fit into your busy schedule
